In her words

A note from Hamssa

“I am passionate about guiding families through the process of finding the right residence for the people they love. From 2013 to 2024 I worked in palliative care, hospice and home health, and I hold an RCFE Administrator Certificate, so I bring that knowledge to every family I work with.

My mission is to provide compassionate support and personal guidance to families in Torrance and beyond. Whether you are looking at assisted living, memory care or another kind of senior housing, I want you to feel informed and confident about the decision.

Your parent’s well-being and comfort come first. Call me, and we will start the conversation.”

Experience

What she brings to your family’s search

  • Hospice and palliative care

From 2013 to 2024 she worked in hospice, palliative care and home health, with people who were seriously ill and with their families. She is used to hard conversations, and has helped families find a home for a relative on hospice.

  • Home health

She has seen care delivered in people’s own homes, which helps when a family is weighing staying at home against moving to a home with caregivers on hand.

  • RCFE Administrator Certificate

Issued through the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division: the certificate California requires of the person who runs a licensed residential care facility for the elderly. It is renewed every two years with 40 hours of continuing education in regulations and dementia care.

  • Homes she has checked herself

She suggests only homes she has interviewed and toured in person. Before she does, she reads each home’s state licensing record: any citations or complaints, what they were about, and when. She refreshes that research every month.

  • A local’s knowledge of the homes

She is based in Torrance and knows many of the South Bay’s assisted living communities and board and care homes, and the people who run them. On a tour she can tell you about the owner and how the home has cared for other residents.

  • Known in the community

She has presented to the City of Torrance Commission on Aging. Her families come from hospital and hospice referrals, home care agencies and, often, word of mouth.

About the agency

Hamssa LLC is a placement agency, not a care home

Some online directories describe Hamssa LLC as an assisted living facility. It is not one. Nobody lives at the Torrance office, and Hamssa LLC does not provide care. It is a referral agency: it helps families choose among licensed homes that other people own and operate. Hamssa works alone, with no employees, so the person you first speak to is the person who tours with you.

The agency serves Torrance, Redondo Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, San Pedro, Harbor City, Carson, Gardena and Long Beach. Its help is free for families: Hamssa is paid a referral fee by the home your parent moves into. How placement agencies are paid

“She followed his case from the hospital, to the skilled nursing facility, and finally to the long term care facility. The whole time she would meet with his case workers, nurses, doctors and check in on my father.”

“We were connected to Hamssa through social services at Kei-Ai nursing facility. She contacted us immediately and soon after our conversation, we were given several choices for boarding homes, good choices!”
